Paper Art Through the Ages

The invention of paper is one of the Four Great Inventions of China and holds an extremely important place in the history of human civilization. In this course, children will learn about the contributions of Cai Lun and explore how the evolution of writing materials has influenced the development of human culture. The class will also introduce the papermaking process, its historical development, and the unique characteristics of paper culture. Students will appreciate different kinds of paper and discover their diverse functions and uses. They will also experience the fun of papermaking by hand, creating their own one-of-a-kind handmade sheet of paper and discovering the charm of paper culture through hands-on creativity.
