Our Story & Mission
Who We Are
The Mandarin Cultural Literacy Program of America (MCLPA) is an initiative by the Wisdom Culture and Education Organization (WCEO) — a Bay Area-based nonprofit with over 30 years of experience in Chinese cultural education. WCEO began as a Chinese language school, rooted in the belief that language and culture are inseparable. Over the decades, we grew into a full-fledged organization offering cultural immersion camps, teacher training programs, and youth leadership initiatives — always guided by the same conviction: that every child, regardless of background, deserves a meaningful connection to Chinese cultural heritage.
As interest in Asian languages and cultures continues to grow across America, we see a new opportunity — and a new responsibility. Whether a student is a heritage learner reconnecting with their roots, or a curious teenager encountering Chinese culture for the very first time, we believe they all deserve more than a textbook. They deserve to experience it firsthand.
MCLPA was created to make that possible — by bringing hands-on, immersive cultural programs directly into public school classrooms, and by supporting the dedicated educators who make it happen every day.
