Lion Dancing

Lion dancing — also known as the "Lion Dance," or "Lion Lantern" — is one of the most iconic traditional folk arts in Chinese culture. Since ancient times, people have believed that lion dancing wards off evil and misfortune while inviting good luck and blessings. As a result, the majestic sight of a dancing lion and the thunderous sound of gongs and drums have always been an essential part of Lunar New Year celebrations, festive ceremonies, and major events.In this course, children will take a deep dive into the historical roots and folk significance of lion dance culture, learning to capture the expressions and movements of the lion, and training their footwork and sense of rhythm. Using real props, they will practice lion dance movements firsthand and fully experience the vivid and captivating magic of this art form. As a highlight at the end of the course, each child will paint their very own lion face to bring home — a one-of-a-kind keepsake and an unforgettable cultural memory to cherish!
