Laba & New Year’s Eve

The Laba Festival, celebrated on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, was traditionally a time to celebrate the harvest and give thanks to ancestors and deities. It also marks the beginning of the preparations for the Lunar New Year. In this course, children will learn about the origins and customs of the Laba Festival, make tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) by hand, and enjoy a warm and nourishing bowl of Laba porridge, experiencing the rich traditions and festive atmosphere of Chinese culture through food and hands-on activities.
