Ethnic Costumes

Chinese culture is vast and profound, embracing a rich tapestry of peoples — including the Han, Manchu, Mongolian, Hui, Tibetan, Miao, Yao, and many others, as well as the wonderfully diverse indigenous cultures of Taiwan. Every ethnic group possesses its own unique traditional costume, and whether in color and pattern, choice of fabric, or cut and design, each one vividly reflects the cultural character and living wisdom of its people, carrying within it a deep historical heritage and an enduring artistic beauty.In this course, children will have the opportunity to admire up close the traditional costumes of seven major ethnic groups as well as the Amis people, gaining a thorough understanding of the distinctive features and cultural significance of each. Children will also get to interact hands-on with paper dolls and paper costumes — identifying and matching the clothing styles of different ethnic groups through engaging, play-based learning. In this joyful atmosphere where education and fun go hand in hand, children will come to appreciate the dazzling beauty of Chinese ethnic dress and the boundless charm of a truly diverse and multicultural heritage!
